Lady Bray by L. S. Kind is the fascinating story of an early twentieth century Southern woman. Rosalie Reader is trained early on as a young and independent woman who has substantial social presence to compliment her various innate talents. She helps to raise her younger sister while attending secretarial school and, then, acquires a position at a local newspaper. Rosalie meets Richard Bray and, despite her father's bias against his daughter marrying a railroad man, Rosalie and Richard run off to marry. They have a rich and rewarding life without children while remaining firmly intertwined in the lives of their nieces and nephews. In her middle years, Rosalie begins to lose various family members, and she becomes the center of the family history, always posing as the lady and always doing the proper thing.

This is an incredible story of an incredible woman. The author takes the reader back in time and brings history to life. MS Bray was a woman born before her time. She was a great role model for young women in her time and should be a role model for young women today. The author has demonstrated how Bray could be a strong woman and yet be a lady. I do believe MS Bray would be very pleased with this book. L. S. King writes with a commanding pen. I will be looking for more books by this author.
