Lakehouse Déjà Vu is a young adult novel by RA Anderson that tells the story of two college students taking a break on a trip that would forever change their lives. Rose has always been very reserved, while Jessica is the more outgoing of the best friends. For spring break this year, Jessica books the perfect vacation spot at a cozy B&B in Florida, and their road trip from Kentucky is perfect for the slow pace that Rose has been craving. Rose doesn’t remember much of the ride or the arrival at the B&B, but she quickly falls in love with the place and the owners who help them feel like this is their home away from home. Rose begins to lose track of time, and she occasionally hears or sees something that brings about a feeling of déjà vu.

If you’re looking for a book to curl up with on a lazy summer day, or even on a cold night snuggled by the fire, Lakehouse Déjà Vu makes for a relaxing, cozy read. Living practically off the grid, the characters and the setting make for a nice change of scenery from our modern, fast-paced world that has to move as quickly as possible. It’s a good reminder to slow down and enjoy what is around you in the moment. RA Anderson also managed to throw in a bit of suspense and a hint of mystery lurking beneath the surface, with a few unexpected twists tossed in for good measure. I loved the way that a few strange moments scattered throughout the book all came together at the end and tied up the story nicely.
