A group of seniors living in a retirement home considers themselves savvy sleuths and have been helping a police detective solve cold cases, but this time their case takes an ominous turn in the amusing amateur sleuth mystery, Late for Square Dancing (Way Over the Hill Gang Book 4) by M K Scott. Inmates of the retirement facility Greener Pastures, Herman, Gus, Jake, Eunice, and Lola, have been helping convalescing police detective Marcy and her partner Lance solve cold cases. The one they are currently working on changes into an active police investigation and Lance takes them off the case. But since when did any of them blindly follow instructions? Covertly continuing their sleuthing while juggling preparations for a square dance, the team uncovers a disturbing twist and finds themselves in a precarious situation. Can they escape without coming to harm? But most importantly, will they make it back to Greener Pastures before their absence becomes apparent?

Highlighting the skills and life experiences of senior citizens, Late for Square Dancing (Way Over the Hill Gang Book 4) by M K Scott is a charming and delightful cozy mystery. The protagonists are not your run of the mill characters, and their quirky personality traits and innovative sleuthing tactics provide an entertaining and amusing storyline. I appreciate how the author shows the advantages that years of living impart and how a group of seniors is determined to live life to the fullest in their declining years. I especially admire Eunice's character and enjoyed how she uses her sharp wits, nosiness, and strong will to deal with the situations in which she finds herself, and at the same time proving you are never too old to change. Even though the story is the fourth in a series, it does fairly well as a standalone. It is an enchanting and humorous cozy mystery that is addictive and will delight amateur sleuth fans of all ages.
