The Lazarus Life reminds me of one of my favorite songs “Four Days Late” by Jessica King. Through scripture, we know that Mary and Martha waited for Jesus to arrive and heal their brother. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. All hope was lost. That is when Jesus does His best work. When we are at our lowest point and have no hope, we are more receptive to allowing Jesus to alter our lives. Four days late, and He is right on time.

Stephen W. Smith does an excellent job of sharing and explaining the Lazarus story. I will never look at this scripture in quite the same way again. Through his own life and the lives of ordinary people, he demonstrates the essence of the Lazarus story…transformation. Smith writes in an easy-to-read style. His message is one that will touch the hearts of many. We long for a sincere change in our lives. Smith tells my story as though he knows me.

I can not tell you how many times I have read the story of Lazarus, Mary & Martha. This book opened my eyes and heart to see myself in this story.
The process of transformation is our story played out through the life of Mary. Martha, & Larazus. We all have our tombs in life that we need to look into & see those things that keep us "bound up" & unable to walk the Christian life. It helps answers the question of "Why", "Where is God",
"Why didn't He come when I prayed". It is all part of the process of transformation that we need to understand.

This is an excellent book! Through his years in ministry, through his wisdom, strength, failures and brokenness, Steve Smith serves as a winsome guide for the spiritual journey in Christ. This is an honest, deep book that comes from the heart. As you read this book you can tell that it cost something for Steve to birth this book. I read it personally but we also used it for a small group men's study (although it's for everyone - not just men). This book will challenge and encourage you to listen to Jesus speak his truth and love into your mind and heart.
