Steve Hartman and Eddrick Bedford wrote a unique suspense thriller filled with super heroes, super villains, murder and deceit. Liar’s Paradise incorporates a story line filled with characters which have supernatural abilities, and characters that are just plain human. Often times those in positions of power and exceptional abilities come to abuse their power, authority and stardom. Hartman and Bedford follow this trail of thought in Liar’s Paradise as they develop these arrogant, power hungry and malicious traits in the characters of their story. At the same time, they reach in and grip the heart when a man’s wife is killed by a super hero. Can that average man avenge his wife’s death or will the super hero’s status cause him to fail miserably?

I was intrigued with the fantasy of this story from fairly early on. The further I moved into the story, the plot thickened and the authors brought more and more super heroes to my attention. Throughout the story I felt concern for the main character, Lex. He was an ex-con, and I continuously worried that he would return to his old ways to put a stop to the out of control behavior of a super hero turned super villain. Page after page, my attention was held by Hartman and Eddrick as they unraveled their suspense thriller, and I anxiously anticipated the outcome for Lex. Reading about super heroes may seem like something for young adult readers, but Hartman and Eddrick did a nice job of crafting Liar’s Paradise into a story that anyone who enjoys suspense could appreciate.
