As the Earth shifts on its axis, all the continents either divided into small islands or converged into desert or ice. Humankind is caught in a war of survival and time. Captain John Garrick of the Phoenix ship is a time enforcer at the National Space Time Enforcement Agency or N.S.T.E.A. He discovers that N.S.T.E.A has sealed a deal to deliver time technology to the notorious outlaw, Menser, in exchange for Charles Ramsey, the ousted ex-president of the United Sectors. Garrick plots to stop the deal from being carried out, therefore he and the Phoenix's crew prepare for the inevitable fight.

Link by D.A. Karr is fast paced and filled with action and drama. Garrick is definitely a maverick to the core. If Link is to be put on screen, Garrick’s personality would be the steering force, with a crew that goes well with his mannerisms. The illustrations included in the book are a nice touch and I’m sure sci-fi readers would greatly appreciate them. They complement the story well as an added bonus for the story’s visualization.

Despite the fast paced plot, the settings have been explored enough to flesh out the story and make it credible regarding the atmosphere and buildup. Simply put, Link has a classic sci-fi theme of good guys versus bad guys but is given a breath of fresh air by Karr. If you’re a fan of Battlestar Galactica, Link definitely has some of its great panache which makes it enjoyable.
