In preparation for Earth Day, Little Palm, a palm tree, calls her friends Tavi and Tylee over to help decorate her for a party. The friends cannot quite decide what they want to decorate with, so they go through several different options, dressing up Little Palm with various colors, sparkles, designs, and more! When the rain comes and washes Little Palm’s paint off, a rainbow appears in the sky, which gives Tavi and Tylee the perfect idea for what amazing design they should paint on Little Palm. As Earth Day celebrations commence, children everywhere begin to paint trees, and the party ends up being a huge success for everyone involved, including Little Palm! Lindsay Ann Fink’s Little Palm is a cute picture book full of entertaining illustrations.
What a sweet little read. Little Palm is a wonderful book that made me feel warm inside. Palm trees remind me of summer, and I enjoyed seeing Little Palm decorated for Earth Day. Although I do see Earth Day acknowledged each year, I have never seen it celebrated the way it was in this book. I thought the illustrations were adorable, and Tavi and Tylee’s process of figuring out what exactly they wanted to paint on Little Palm was fun to see play out. Each design was better than the last, and I love how they ended up decorating Little Palm. I would recommend Little Palm by Lindsay Ann Fink to children and their parents. It is a great read featuring a global day meant to celebrate the earth.
