Every parent’s worst nightmare comes true in William Mark’s gripping new police thriller, Lost in the Darkness. When Detective Curtis “Curt” Walker’s son, Josh, is kidnapped, he leaves his entire life behind to search for his only son. While he’s desperately looking for leads on Josh, he encounters Alexis Vanderhill, a woman with her own crusade, and agrees to join her and her band of vigilantes. Through a deadly encounter with human traffickers, the group, and their not always 100% legal modes of operation, are discovered by the mainstream police and a journalist with a chip on his shoulder, Tony Mason, who’s determined that his story will make it to print. All Curt really wants is to get his son home, and get to the bottom of why he was taken in the first place.

As a father, I felt especially connected to the story in Lost in the Darkness. It was easy to put myself in the place of Detective Walker, and there were times when I was reading that my stomach was actually in a knot as I worried for Josh. Any parent can certainly empathize with Curt, and could certainly imagine doing exactly what he did to get his son back. William Mark’s newest work had me on the edge of my seat, and I stayed up way too late into the night to finish it, determined to learn the outcome of this thrilling book. Mr. Mark’s own life experience as a police officer and detective certainly shine through in the incredibly realistic descriptions and scenarios. Any reader of police procedurals, mysteries or detective novels would love this book. I was happy to see that William Mark is currently working on a new novel, and I, for one, can’t wait to get my hands on it!
