Lucky's Adventure in Saratoga is a children’s picture book written by Elizabeth Macy and illustrated by Jenn Kocsmiersky. Lucky Charms was a small dog who lived with her mom and her sister, Hershey Kisses, a cat. Once, when Lucky was staying with her best friend Casey, while Lucky’s mom was away, something very frightening happened. A loud noise startled Lucky while they were on a walk. Her collar snapped when she jumped and she began running frantically away to find her mom. Casey and his parents tried to chase after her but Lucky was just too fast. She ran and ran until she realized she had become hopelessly lost. Casey and her other doggie friends circulated a Missing poster about her and posted it all around town. While they were doing that and looking for her, Lucky had the most amazing series of encounters. Were it not for missing her mom and Hershey Kisses, you could almost say she had a fabulous adventure.

Lucky's Adventure in Saratoga follows a little lost doggie as she explores Saratoga while trying to find her mom and her way back home. Macy’s story imaginatively handles a most terrifying situation -- having a companion animal be lost and unable to get home -- while at the same time showcasing the marvelous places and activities to be found in Saratoga. There’s even a map at the back of the book which helps readers track Lucky’s route and revisit each of those places. Macy’s story is fact-based as her dog Lucky did indeed get lost once when she was away. Jenn Kocsmiersky’s water-color pictures are wonderful! Each one is suitable for framing and hanging in a child’s bedroom. She captures the expressions on Lucky’s face most eloquently and makes those places she visits in Saratoga come to life. Lucky's Adventure in Saratoga is most highly recommended.
