In Magic Blue Rocks by April Shprintz, when April was 6 years old, a comment from a child in school would dramatically change her life. April never knew she was poor until that moment but, from then on, she became determined to find success and fulfill her dreams of becoming a TV news anchor, no matter what obstacles stood in her way. Born into poverty and raised by her unpredictable and volatile mother in a small town in Tennessee, April realized quickly that if she wanted to change her situation, it was going to be her actions alone that made it possible. Follow April's journey of setbacks and triumphs from her first business venture selling 'Magic Blue Rocks' at school, a career in the military, and how she finally achieved her dream. Discover the key to her success and the mindset she possessed that set her apart from those who never achieve their goals. April will admit, she is no different from anyone else but what she did have was a combination of self-belief, confidence in her ability, and unwavering certainty that her destiny was in her hands and not the circumstances she was born into. April will teach you the simple techniques to acquire the same belief in yourself, how to face obstacles with courage, and become astute to every opportunity that comes your way. Learn how to control the crippling doubt and fear that is holding you back from your goals and realize that no matter how big the goal, it is possible.

I found April's stories absolutely fascinating. I was amazed at the level of maturity she had at the age of 6 years old to understand the concept of positive belief in herself. Her determination to overcome every obstacle was admirable. The conversation she had with her mother regarding money after her first business venture, I feel, was a turning point in April's life. I thought April also knew the difference between constructive criticism and advice and crushing defeatism from others. The way she could diversify when one door was closed was impressive and it really made a difference to the outcome of her situation. April had many pivotal people throughout her life including the incredible Sue Harper who was a true beacon of light for April, and also Merri Mai who offered a solution when all seemed lost. April's guidance for success throughout this book are actions that anyone can implement. They are achievable and simple but really powerful and they can be used in any area of your life, not just in your career. I loved her advice on positive thinking to manifest a goal, this is such an important aspect of the book and is going to help so many readers in their life journey. This line from the book highlighted this point extremely well, 'Believing things will work out and having faith that they are happening for you and not to you will make those opportunities so much easier to see.' Magic Blue Rocks by April Shprintz is an absolutely compelling read.
