Author Biography

E. W. Choate Jr. says he is, "just somebody that likes to write." In actuality, he’s always been an adventurous spirit. Never one to play it safe, he’s jumped off where angels fear to tread, on more than one occasion.

Fun Facts: E.W. Choate is licensed to drive everything from a motorcycle to big-rig trucks, and yes, even airplanes. He’s been married since 1991 and is a dad to three grown kids. He also has seven grandkids, including three princesses and four knights.

These days, you’ll usually find him at his home atop a mountain, where he does most of his writing while sitting on his upper-level screened-in porch, within a forest. He enjoys taking in the views of surrounding mountaintops, a lake far below, and the interactions of all the animals that abound.

Good-humored and happy to encourage, first and foremost, he says, "Believe in yourself. You can do much more than you think, or sometimes can even imagine."

One of his favorite quotes was by Albert Einstein, who said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Because knowledge is limited, yet imagination encircles the world."

When faced with challenges or change, some people think that it's meant to destroy them but, in essence, it could be meant to stretch, grow or move them forward toward their destiny and purpose. In Marty by E.W. Choate Jr., Martina "Marty" Martin, a purple martin, believes that her parents want her dead, otherwise, why would they want to push her out of the family's nest? What Marty didn't know was that once she learned to fly, there was a whole world out there awaiting her discovery. Marty and Roger Ruzo, the forest cat, became fast and unlikely friends when she spiraled out of control while she was learning how to fly and landed on him. The young reader will enjoy traveling along on this magical adventure with Martina and Roger as they work together to save the entire kingdom.

I enjoyed Marty: If She Can't Overcome Her Fears, If She Doesn’t Learn to Believe in Herself, Then It'll All Be For Nothing. This quote by E.W. Choate Jr. truly sets the stage for the young reader: “Courage is doing what you must despite the fear. You have to take a leap of faith. It’s only scary until you’ve done it.” Reading this delightful book will offer the young reader so many life lessons - from bullying and fighting back, overcoming fear, and learning not to judge others to having faith and hope. Just as Marty did and the author says, "Believe in yourself. You can do much more than you think, or sometimes can even imagine.” Grab a copy of this book, curl up and enjoy! Highly recommended.
