Mike and Pinky Find a Home, by Uncle Amos, is the story of two turtles, Mike and Pinky, who are looking for their home in the most unlikely places. When a construction crew destroys the pond they once called their home, Mike and Pinky are left alone to find a new home for themselves. But finding a home that is just as special as their old one is no easy task. Pick up a copy of this whimsical tale and travel with these lost turtles as they search to find a place to call their home. Young children will be delighted as they see all of the hilarious places Mike and Pinky hope to live, and parents will enjoy a chance to teach their children a valuable lesson on the meaning of home.

Uncle Amos’s tale is a simple, but entertaining read that would be quite suitable for beginner readers. The story has an important message about the impact of industrialization on the environment while still maintaining an appropriately light atmosphere for young children. Finally, the ultimate lesson - home is where love resides - is a timeless message that remains important today. Children who have had to move or have had to experience a loss will certainly find comfort in the positive outcome of this story. I enjoyed Mike and Pinky Find a Home, and I would certainly read it to my own children. I hope to read more from Uncle Amos, and I am curious to see what lesson he will be teaching readers next.
