Author Biography

The son of a Colorado Farmer. At the age of twenty one I joined the Navy and became a Weapons Control and Information Systems Engineer onboard fast attack submarines. There I traveled all over the Pacific and Indian Ocean visiting many countries and gaining wonderful experiences. Not only did I get the chance to see different countries, but I did a lot of traveling around The U.S. It was my goal to visit every state, and in 2004 I visited my last state Florida. Since retiring from the Navy I have worked as a Computer Engineer for various companies in Virginia where I live with my best friend and wife of fourteen years. (Just so you know, best friend and wife are the same person! lol) I have always had a passion for the written word. I love to read most anything, but commonly gravitate toward science fiction and fantasy.

Misaligned by Rodney L. Carlson includes two alien species, expert computer hackers, CIA, Illuminati, double crossing “friends”, the construction of pyramids in both Egypt and Central America, and a host of very original technological secrets. As it happens, the much-touted “end of the world” allegedly predicted by the Mayan Calendar was actually a date on which the planets of this solar system would be aligned in such a way that their combined gravitational pull enabled the more aggressive of the alien species to open a portal from their home planet to the Earth. They anticipated the arrival of 500 million more of their species, and intended to launch an all-out attack against the other aliens, as well as the humans. So how are a computer hacker, a spoiled little rich girl, and a professor of Sumerian history and artifacts supposed to save the Earth?

Misaligned indicates on the cover that it is part of the Covert Concept Series. I was very glad to see that, because I want to read more of this story. It ended in such a way that the author could continue the series if he wants to, but sans the usual cliff-hanger ending so many readers find frustrating when they get to the end of a book only to learn they have to wait a year and a half to find out what happens next. The way Mr. Carlson concluded Misaligned, it would seem that each episode of the Covert Concept Series will be a stand-alone, sequential tale, not unlike the Star Wars series. In my opinion, this story is every bit as uniquely entertaining as were the several Star Wars movies. I encourage all sci-fi fans to read Misaligned soon. It is an extraordinary adventure.
