Money for Love by Peter S. Berman is a riveting and thrilling suspense novel. The setting is Los Angeles, where Shari Thompson and Jennifer Donahue are partners in the Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. A string of murders happens within a short period of time and Shari and Jennifer, along with many others in the department, struggle to connect these seemingly isolated events into one large scenario. It is too much of a coincidence that every victim is of Russian descent; there has to be a connection. The female detectives are bright and thorough, testing out new possibilities each time more information surfaces or another crime occurs. The novel becomes more interesting as the personal lives of Shari and Jennifer are unfolded. The difficulties of balancing home and love lives with the demands of complicated, time-consuming police work are intertwined throughout the story.

The writing style of Peter S. Berman is fast-paced and easy to read in Money for Love. Mr. Berman utilizes just the right amount of narration and description to keep the reader highly engaged throughout the book. With the addition of Russian mob members, including the details of early life histories in Russia, a virtually unknown cultural group is introduced to the reader. This new knowledge adds another element of excitement to the well-developed plot. This intriguing book is a true page turner, as the reader becomes involved in a complex labyrinth of criminal actions. Suspense novels should keep the reader guessing and involved until the very end; Mr. Berman successfully accomplishes this goal.

Money For Love (Tales from the Robbery-Homicide Division) (Volume 3) by Peter Stephen Berman is a murder mystery that is both dark and intriguing. Detective Jennifer Donahue works in the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division. A former escort is murdered after requesting an urgent meeting with Jennifer. Jennifer and her partner, Detective Shari Thompson, take on the case and try to discover why the Russian woman was murdered. Why had she wanted to meet with Jennifer? Did she know something that was worth killing for? While searching, the two detectives stumble upon even more murders meant to cover the Russian mob's involvement in the Los Angeles matchmaking business. There's plenty of money for the mob to make in the high end match making business, and they are willing to kill to protect their investment, even if it means taking down two LAPD investigators.

Money For Love is a dark tale of the seedy underside of matchmaking and those willing to pay for play. Berman wrote these scenes very realistically and I was immediately transported into this desperate world of Russian mobsters, mafia henchmen, and two wonderfully brave detectives willing to risk their own lives to stop these terrible crimes. The characters were well-written and very interesting. I enjoyed the tough female cops and really felt like I could relate to their motivations. This topic could have seemed a little clichéd, but Berman did a nice job of keeping the topic fresh and didn't fall into any overused or offensive tropes. This reflected well on his writing style and word usage.

Wow! Just, wow! That's exactly what I thought when I finished reading Money For Love, the third volume in author Peter S. Berman's Tales from the Robbery-Homicide Division. Follow the story of the LAPD detective duo of Jennifer Donahue and Shari Thompson as they embark on a dangerous investigation that takes them into the very depths of the underbelly of a Russian crime syndicate. After a Russian female escort contacted Detective Donahue, then ended up horrifically executed, the two women decide to dig into the Russian mafia's involvement in the world of high-end matchmaking, and the murders designed to hide the truth. Will Donahue and Thompson solve the crimes, or will they become victims during their quest for justice? You'll have to read the book to find out!

I loved Money For Love. Loved. It. How's that for a review? This book kept me turning the pages from the very start until the very end, staying up way past the time I should have been asleep to find out what happened. Author Peter S. Berman has done a fantastic job in creating strong, independent and interesting female protagonists that his readers will be able to connect with and care about. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is! The story line is exciting, full of action, and an absolute edge of your seat, heart in your throat thriller, and I did not see many of the twists and turns coming. Any reader who enjoys a great murder mystery should read this book as soon as possible! I very highly recommend Money for Love, and I look forward to reading more from the highly talented author, Peter S. Berman, in the very near future!
