Monsoon Rising by David Lee Corley is a riveting and gripping entry in The Nomad Series, a thriller that is as tantalising as it can get. Billy Gamble is a hunted man, a man accused of theft and Eve Donoghue is charged to bring him in. But Billy is as slippery as any good thief can be, always staying one step ahead of Eve. When Billy gets framed for murder, he is in deep trouble, and there is only one way out: return the money and be extradited back to America. In exchange for his freedom, he’ll help Eve get the serial killer who leaves death in his wake. The question is do they have what it takes to apprehend an elusive serial killer and can they establish the trust that enables them to work as a team?

With an international setting in Southeast Asia, Monsoon Rising is a page-turner with memorable and real characters, a story that literally plunges the reader into the social and physical landscapes of some of the most interesting places in Asia. The reader is pulled into the narrative from the very beginning of the story and there is no pause. You take a break and find yourself with a finger tucked between the pages as you hastily do little chores in between. The handling of the conflict is magnificent and I enjoyed the cliff-hangers and the biting suspense that drives the story. David Lee Corley establishes himself as one of the masters of the thriller genre with rock-solid characters and a great plot. The portrait of the killer known as The Nomad comes out brilliantly, and so do the portraits of the other characters. I loved this book!
