J. Steven Lamperti’s Moon & Shadow: A Tale of Liamec is a story about a quiet and modest young man named Sebastian who lived an ordinary life in the village of Westhavenfieldbrook. However, everything slowly changes for Sebastian after he pulls the moon down from the sky one night. The moon looked so beautiful to Sebastian that he thought it would be a great idea to hang it over the mantel. One day, a monster that looks like a different nightmare to each person attacked their poor village. Despite being unsure of himself and what is happening to him these past few days, Sebastian steps up to protect the village that he grew up in. But the battle is not over and with the guidance of the lunar spirit, Sebastian has to find the source of the nightmares to keep everyone safe. Can Sebastian defeat the channeler of nightmares or will it be too much for him to handle?

I found Moon & Shadow: A Tale of Liamec by J. Steven Lamperti to be an unusual but intriguing story. Everything about the story is unique, from the strange power of the protagonist to the distinctive antagonist. I was drawn in by Sebastian’s character because of how mysterious he seemed. As I read through the story, multiple questions popped into my head. Why did he take the moon? Is he planning something? Why did he borrow those things from his friends? Is Sebastian a bad guy for taking the moon or is he the good guy? As I progressed further into the book, my questions were all answered and Sebastian became more and more interesting with every page turned. The story is exciting and I was on the edge of my seat while Sebastian pursued the source of the nightmares that attacked his village. His bravery and kind-hearted personality really make him stand out and, as the protagonist of the tale, he truly brought this story to life. Overall, this is a satisfying fantasy.
