Mr. Greenleaf's Unforgettable Summer by Jill Glassco is an adorable story for kids that has a good concept and conveys a worthy message to young readers. Mr. Greenleaf leads a peaceful existence in a tiny cave beside Mrs. Willowkin's flower garden by the goldfish pond. His home is cozy, quiet and comfortable. The peace is destroyed when a boisterous bullfrog, Caiaphas Croaker, invades the small pond. Mr. Greenleaf's life suddenly changes and his search for a new home takes him to spiritual heights that elevate his body, soul and spirit. The journey with Mr. Greenleaf as he goes searching for a new place is exciting and interesting.

The story is adorable and educational and will introduce kids to new ideas, thoughts, concepts and creatures. The black and white sketches complement the author's words and lend clarity, movement and life to the story as well as the characters. The spiritual undertone in the story is educational and informative for kids, and reiterates Christian beliefs and teachings. It is a good book for bedtime storytelling for parents and grandparents, and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries.
