My Big Tow: The Adventures of Captain Recovery by Kyle Chirgwin is a fun read for children which introduces them to towing and machinery. The book begins by showing Darren and Kylie playing in their backyard sandbox. He calls for Captain Recovery who is known for the Big Recovery jobs he does with Big Blue, a shiny, new heavy-duty tow truck. The adventure begins after Captain Recovery picks up the call to do a tow job which is very hard. Readers are taken along with Captain Recovery and his blue tow truck on an adventurous day. It is a book for all readers who are interested in machinery and adventure.
I found the book very exciting and it introduces kids to a whole new world of tow trucks and their operation. The illustrations are bright and colorful; they lend a good pace and movement to the scenes and give clarity to the author's vision. It's a good bedtime storybook and can also be used for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries. All the characters in the story are adorable and children will love them. The story reaches out to a young audience in a fun and interactive way, at the same time introducing them to new ideas and concepts.
Books like this are so good for children and there can be no better way to introduce them to new concepts and ideas. Colorful illustrations and stories are excellent methods not only to educate kids, but also to introduce them to reading habits at an early age.
