Author Biography

When they put an advertising man out to pasture, this is never the end of it. I started writing short stories in 2009. My Book of Revelations is my penultimate effort (No.12). I have been a perennial finalist in a number of international writing contests, and there are a dozen certificates on my wall (This one received 3). In the middle of it all, there were a few novels but I like the short story format. For the reader, it is a commuter's delight.

I live in Melbourne, Australia, but have travelled extensively, and these locations appear often in my books. I retired as a Creative Director but commenced my working life as an accountant; probably the last type of person you would expect to be a humorist. My passion in life is horse racing, having raced over twenty thoroughbreds. There is always a horse in my stories. I hope you enjoy my book, should you buy it.

In My Book of Revelations, Gerry Burke entertains us with fantastical, imaginative stories including marvelous moments of murder, mayhem, mystery, and much more. Each story is filled with interesting facts and fiction compiled by historians and the author. The book contains information on everything from history to heroes, horror to Hollywood, and thought-provoking trivia. Any patriotic American worth their salt should read Gerry’s book. After many years of thorough research and personal experience, Gerry provides answers to some of the questions we never knew needed to be asked, until now.

Next time you feel inclined to ask someone if they believe in God or anything else, first ask if they have read My Book of Revelations by Gerry Burke to ensure that they are fully informed. An essential guide to living in America, this treasure trove of information should form part of the school curriculum and be available in all libraries. Tourism companies take note – this book is a must-read for your clients who wish to tour America or would consider settling in this great land of the brave. The variety of characters are all well-defined and easy to relate to. For anybody who doesn’t read English very well, there are enough pictures and sketches to keep them entertained.

Each story is smooth flowing which makes for a quick read and each story can be read on its own; the reader doesn’t feel obliged to start at one end and finish at the other. An important point to remember: “Those with the will and the want to defy convention and conservative viewpoints are often punished by ridicule, public scorn, and even imprisonment.” Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable book that is highly recommended to anyone with a sense of humor and an interest in historical facts (both proven and contrived).
