Author Biography

I see that a lot of authors have a bio. Man, I'd really hate to feel left out so I decided to include a little personal information about myself.

As a boy, I discovered my passion for creative writing after I read my first adult novel (The Vision by Dean Koontz) at the ripe old age of ten. I thought it would be a lot of fun to create stories using the printed word. I initially started writing short stories and poems as a hobby, then my writing took on more of a therapeutic role to help me cope with the number of tragedies I endured as a teen. Instead of assuming the role of a destructive juvenile delinquent like so many of my friends were doing, I vented my frustrations through constructive means by focusing my pain and despair on paper. My writing had become my place of solace, my comfort zone, my best friend.

My first--and only published novel so far--entitled My Brother's Keeper, originally started out as a short story named "Shattered Images." It was the last short story I attempted to write when I was a teenager, but I never finished it. Nearly twenty years later, I revisited it with the intention of picking up where I had left off. I got more than I bargained for when I kept writing and writing and writing until it became the novel it is today. That passion I thought I had lost forever resurrected itself with a vengeance.

Feel free to let me know what you thnk of my novel and I will definitely return the favor.

Many thanks for your time.

This book was an edge of your seat thriller; the kind that you read until your eyes burn, the type that makes you ignore everyone else around you until you finish the last page. The plot of this novel is just as twisted and convoluted as the mind of the killer. Fast. Furious. Switching from one moment in time through one character's perspective, then madly back in time through the eyes of another.

A.J. takes you inside the world of a family that began with a tragedy and ended with a horrid nightmare. There were times when my head was spinning from one chapter to the next, as if the author wanted the reader to glimpse the insanity that lurks throughout the pages. We see twin brothers bound by blood, separated by sanity. As young boys, one understood the meaning behind their father's admonition: be your brother's keeper. The other completely mangled the point beyond anything recognizable from its original intent. How two brothers, identical in almost every way, raised under the same roof by the same man, grow up to be polar opposites of each other is a fascinating subject. The depth of emotion and attention to detail that A.J. offers his readers is nothing short of amazing.

A brilliant plot that keeps you guessing until the very last page! If you love psychological thrillers as I do, you definitely don't want to miss this debut novel from A.J. Farris.
