My Dinosaur and the Very Contagious Case of the Yawns by Hailee Oman is about a little boy whose dinosaur can’t stop yawning. No matter where they go or what they do, his dinosaur is always yawning. The little boy doesn’t know what to do about his dinosaur friend and decides that maybe if playing doesn’t work, getting into bed will. Will the little boy’s dinosaur finally stop yawning? Will this terrible case of the yawns finally end?

My Dinosaur and the Very Contagious Case of the Yawns by Hailee Oman is a cute story that showcases a common dilemma for many parents. A yawning child who refuses to go to bed is something I’m sure they are familiar with. What I love is that this story beautifully illustrates the very simple solution to catching a case of the yawns - going to bed. Many young children may seem energetic and want to play all day but having a good rest or a nap during the day is essential, although they can be stubborn and often refuse to do so. I think a book like this would encourage young children to get into bed by making the concept of yawning and being tired a type of illness that must be 'cured' by getting into bed and going to sleep. This book would serve as an amazing tool for parents who struggle with getting the little ones into bed.
