My First Reading Book by Amber Richards is an educational tool that will guide children by enhancing their knowledge about using words. The book is devoid of any pictures as the author feels that many a time children associate words with pictures. The author, instead, has focused on the word alone. The words have been projected as flash cards, making it easy for children to read and understand. The author has mixed up the rhyming words to make it a bit challenging. The book is a wonderful concept to teach words without using any other tool or image.

For those parents teaching their kids by using pictures, this book might not catch their fancy, but the author has used a novel concept to sound out the words and learn them properly. Parents, educators and teachers can use this book as an interactive tool to teach kids words in a simple way. There is nothing else to distract kids from learning the word and that is the strong point of the book.

It is an excellent book for beginners and the author makes it easy for them by using simple words. She begins with easy words and slowly introduces short sentences. The formatting of the words in a book format is visually stimulating to young readers. The concept is unique and original and it really works in teaching kids.
