Never Summer by Tim Blaine is an adventure mixed with elements of self-discovery, the search for meaning, and the hidden importance of mortality. Vlad D’Agostino has lived the best days of his life in Japan. Now diagnosed with tuberculosis in its terminal phase and barely returned to New York, he is on the hunt for a miraculous cure, but the only hope of getting proper medication is in a clinic hidden in the Rocky Mountains, a place called Never Summer. He begins his odyssey, a journey that will unveil his past and bring him face-to-face with his reality. The discoveries and the lessons he learns are a bundle of treasures for readers seeking answers and scared of living.

I love it when an author draws me to images that are powerful and telling, things I feel as if I am seeing and touching — even in my mind’s eye, and Tim Blaine does just that, and he does it beautifully. From the first chapter, I can see what is happening, feel the characters, and take part in the action. That is brilliant! There are books that entertain because of the intricacies and the intrigue that move the plot forward. Some are memorable for the great characters. But Never Summer is a book that stands apart because of the compelling cast of characters, the interesting plot, and the powerful message it delivers. It has philosophical and spiritual undertones that will ring clarion bells in the hearts of readers. Blaine has an absorbing style of writing and the story moves ahead through thoughtful and entertaining scenes with a message that will stay with readers for a long time. The writing is purposeful!
