Caught in the crossfire of a nuclear attack, a young man struggles to survive in the heart-stopping dystopian novel, Nuclear Midnight by Robert Cole. Alex and his brother Jason are taking at least a year to travel around the world. During their journey, they decide to cut some of their trip short and head to London. While they are traveling, the world explodes in a bright flash, and they are both injured. When Alex awakens in a moldy bomb shelter, he learns that Jason is in the hospital. Once the radiation level subsides enough, Alex heads out to the hospital into the black nuclear winter. When Alex reaches the hospital, a gang has taken it over, and Jason is gone. Alex is soon captured by the military and placed in a work camp. Imprisoned and threatened daily with death, Alex and a few others plan their getaway. However, no one has ever escaped. Can Alex and his friends plan a fool-proof escape and get past the guards? If they do, will they be able to survive in the deadly new world?

Depicting the horrifying realism of a post-apocalyptic world, Nuclear Midnight by Robert Cole is a gripping dystopian novel. Skillfully written, the story contains an intense plot and engaging and well-defined characters. Brimming with drama, suspense, and action, the storyline seamlessly flows, evolving into a breathtaking conclusion. Captivated by the imagery of the devastation portrayed at the beginning of the book, I couldn't stop reading until I reached the last page. I just had to know what happened to Alex, Cliff, and Elaine in the devastated new world. Set against a realistically portrayed backdrop of a nuclear war zone, it is a gripping story that will thrill everyone who loves novels featuring courageous heroes and heroines surviving a nuclear holocaust.
