A delightful paranormal tale with a pinch of New Age, Obscure Felicity by Charlotte Woodland will plant inspiration in your head. Brenda is a local artist—a bit weird for some but quite talented. Vincent is an engineer—the type who doesn’t stop at something once he puts his heart and mind to it. Things are about to change after what they refer to as their Mystical Desert Adventure takes on a life of its own, giving them a rare opportunity to connect with the Universal Mind. Brenda becomes a master painter while Vincent makes tremendous discoveries in optics. But Vincent meets an untimely demise, leaving Brenda devastated. His pair of sunglasses, however, becomes Brenda’s tool to find his spirit and reconnect with him. But days after, the sunglasses go missing and fall into the hands of different holders whose lives will also change.
The heart of the story is in Brenda’s character, her relationship with Vincent, and her connection to the holders of the sunglasses. Obscure Felicity is a story with heart about the rhythms of dreams and relationships. If the sunglasses become an instrumental tool to touch the lives of others, it then inspires plenty of conversation. Charlotte Woodland has written something more than just a paranormal story. She may well be paving the way for a new cross-genre in paranormal romance that digs into deeper themes about purpose and our relationship with the universe. You’ll be amazed at the way she handles the stream of consciousness, as the human psyche becomes an important factor in the paranormal elements. It is a heartwarming tale that is challenging and sometimes threatening to Brenda and the world she lives in. But that is expected because it’s all about the journey that leads to change, acceptance, love, and memories. It rounds up these elements nicely, and you’ll be glad that you read this book.
