Of Moonbeams and Fairies: Collected Tales by Rebecka Vigus is a nice little book for young children. It is a small book, more suited for reading out to little ones. The stories are interesting and sure to please the narrator as well as the listener when read out to a young audience. Older children will also enjoy reading all about fairies, unicorns, leprechauns and the animals of the woods who are delightful protagonists. One of the stories has a King with very special powers, which will thrill children. There is a princess whose traits of goodness and courage will certainly help children to improve their perceptions about the world. After each story, the author has placed little poems, each carrying a message to strengthen the traits of goodness, courage and caring in children.

Rebecka Vigus has woven little lessons into the stories, like the Leprechaun's 'Pot of Gold' and what a home and a wedding signify. The necessity to care for animals is also stressed and the final victory of Good over Evil is dealt with. The cover of the book is appealing. The interior formatting is attractive, though it could do better with some illustrations to excite the imagination of children since the stories are actually excellent. The characters are likable, and a touch of magic in the stories is a winner. I liked the book and its protagonists and it certainly deserves the 4 Stars I have awarded it! I'll look forward to an illustrated edition too!
