One Gone, More Before Long is the first book in Kaylie Hunter’s Davina Ravine Psychic Crime Thriller Series. Davina Ravine, a small-town girl and local cleaning services owner, gets visions from time to time, sometimes from the past and sometimes in the present. With her gift, she’s been dubbed the town outcast despite saving quite a few people with her talents. When a local girl goes missing, the townsfolk turn to Davina to see if she can lend a hand. Add in her father who suffered a psychotic break after her mother’s death, the new city-slicker detective, and a serial killer who has returned after 15 years, and our heroine has her hands full.
I loved this book and devoured every page trying to figure out the mystery alongside the gang! I don’t want to give away too much, but just enough to get you hooked. Kaylie Hunter’s One Gone, More Before Long presented powerful female characters. We have Davina, a strong and fearless female lead, her best friend Olivia, a trust-fund baby and also powerful in her right, and Davina’s maternal grandmother Bernadette, a force to be reckoned with. This book has all the good tropes of murder, mystery, small-town gossip, comedy, romance, eccentric grandmothers, family secrets, and supernatural abilities. The plot was beautifully developed and well-paced. It gave us time to see each character grow, from Detective Stone who thinks the town is nuts to Bernadette who lived as a hermit. I am counting down the days until the second in this series is published! A whopping 5/5!
