One Hit Away: A Memoir of Recovery by Jordan Barnes is an informative book that educates readers on addiction and addictive substances. The book is a true story of recovery based on actual events and gives hope and strength to readers who are struggling with their addictions. The author's harrowing journey as an addict and his path to recovery, rehabilitation, and redemption will encourage and motivate others to lead a life free from addiction. It is a memoir of struggles and survival and exposes the harsh realities about the life of an addict.

One Hit Away is raw, honest, brave, and brutal and gives dark insights into the world of heroin addiction and the destruction it can cause. It is not easy to battle addiction and find the way back to being addiction-free, getting married, and experiencing fatherhood. The author's story is all about his fight against his demons and recovery, and his honesty is palpable throughout the memoir. The book is a good tool to make readers understand how damaging addiction can be and the author's mental strength is visible in the manner in which he decided to take control of his heroin addiction and put his life back on track to recovery and rehabilitation. Many readers will be able to relate to Jordan Barnes and his life story will give strength and hope to addicts who are battling with their addictions. Some of the moments shared in the memoir are heart-wrenching, and he also speaks about the role of his parents who stood by him through thick and thin, and gave him support when he needed it.
