Millie Morgan didn’t have much in her life to look forward to. A job that required stockings to be worn, a cottage with a wonky door and monthly family lunches. Three years ago, she had a steady boyfriend, a penthouse apartment and a job that she loved. One Little Lie by Holly Willow is the story of Millie Morgan and her quest to get her life back on track. Her whole world was turned around when her boyfriend of eleven years, Nick, announced he no longer wanted to be part of “Nick and Millie”. Then she lost a Backstreet Boy and her driving license, which meant an end to her career. All she had now was a plan to exact revenge on Nick and a job that paid the credit card bills, oh, and a family that had branded her “the quitter”! Then, out of the blue, came an opportunity to meet with the mysterious Sharp Agency and change her life completely. Can she exact her revenge on Nick and can the mystery man she dubs “her Colin” help her?
This is a great read. Set in Singapore, it really gives you an insight into the expat scene and the humid weather there. One Little Lie by Holly Willow is jam-packed with characters that you want to know better. David and Diana, the distant siblings. Millie’s parents and her formidable grandparents, known as the Grand Morgans, are delightfully quirky. Millie is a woman who needs to make some decisions and accompanying her on her path is a genuine delight. This is a roller coaster of a story filled with humor and pathos. A story of relationships and just how easy it is to get them wrong. Millie is a modern woman I would very much like to read more about!
