I have always loved to write. Words to me seem to dance as they fall on the pages. They dance into your heart and you feel what I have written. I have seen most of the world but I still have so much to see. I love to travel, work and see a new sunrise with someone new. I am writing again and hope that the magic that pushes my pen will continue. I hope that I can bring a smile and make a difference to you.

Wow! I just finished reading One Second of Loneliness by debut author Timothy French, and all I can say is "Wow!" In a highly inventive, action-packed thrill ride of a read, we are introduced to our protagonist Ashton. Ashton lives with quite a burden. Her predetermined future is not filled with ease. In fact, her fate and destiny take her to some of the most dangerous and difficult places imaginable, including a plane crash into the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and a serious act of terrorism. Ashton must act in order to save herself and others, and must be able to fulfill her destiny in order to do it. But will her own 'one second of loneliness' allow for that to happen? You'll need to read the book to find out!

I really enjoyed One Second of Loneliness. It certainly will suck you in from the beginning and have you turning the pages until the very end. Author Timothy French has a gift in writing exciting scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat, as well as characters, especially his protagonist Ashton that readers will definitely become attached to. Any reader who enjoys stories of action, adventure, thrills or just an exciting book should definitely give One Second of Loneliness a chance. I recommend this book, and am certainly looking forward to reading more from Timothy French in the future.

Over twenty years ago Ashton made a choice to defy destiny and her predetermined fate; altering the fabric of time. Since then, Ashton has been running from destiny and fate while desperately trying to prevent a terrorist attack that will affect thousands of lives and an entire country.

One Second of Loneliness by Timothy French is an interesting and philosophical read. French demonstrates how one person's decisions can affect many people; even people outside of that one person's social/family circle. Even though I do not agree with the concepts of fate and destiny, I appreciated how French was able to make these concepts seem like tangible characters in the story without making the story seem unrealistic. Finally, I enjoyed the imagery in French's writing; it helped me to connect with the characters on an emotional level and made it easy for me to imagine the different settings in the book.

I was impressed with the poetic prose that is sprinkled throughout the book; however, I grew impatient when I was halfway through the book and had yet to find how more than two of the characters were connected to each other. While much of this is revealed near the end, I was frustrated by this because I was aware that the connections existed, but I did not know why or how the connections existed. This could be a quirk on my part, and should not discourage readers who enjoy reading books that make them think about their lives and what their lives mean.

Despite my frustration, I found One Second of Loneliness by Timothy French beautifully insightful and philosophical; it is one of those books that makes you think about its implications well after you put it down. I will re-read this book to catch any nuances that I may have missed during the first reading, and look forward to seeing more from Timothy French.
