Oriana Oakleigh and the Dragon Danes by W.R. Cooper is the second book of the series and Oriana is back. Alas, her home, beloved Oakleigh Manor, is just not right. However, she will not stop her quest to save the faerie world before it is to late by saving its Queen. As if having to save a Queen and a people were not enough, Oriana is being hunted by the Dragon Danes; they want her and her ivory basket. She will not let them win, however, because she has friends and a purpose to fulfill - the last instruction of Lord Whitethorn.

I have not read book one so I started with this one and WOW what a fast moving, very full plot. There are many elements and lands and myths blended into one with this book and I loved every moment of it. You have intrigue and danger and Oriana is my kind of gal. No matter what she has thrown at her, she is the kind of person who does not give up; she still plugs on as she wants to fulfill her quest. Eye on the prize is something I very much understand and enjoy. The flow of the book is good and the twists come in the right spots for me. I truly do enjoy the writing style that W.R. Cooper brings to the stage. I am going to be going back and reading the first book (although this can stand on its own) so I get the full experience. I would recommend this one for a good read.

Oriana Oakleigh and the Dragon Danes is a fantasy written by W. R. Cooper. Oriana wakes up from a deep coma after becoming ill on a quest she went on. She is surprised to find Alaric and his wife, Freydis, caring for her in their home. Oriana learns the local priest has disappeared, folks think she is a witch, and there is a reward on her head. Her evil aunt, Lady Mildreth, has joined forces with the Dragon Danes who want to harm her and steal the precious ivory casket. Oriana intends to continue her quest because the fa’rie world is dying, and she has to rescue their fairy queen before all is doomed. She also has to find the lost druids in crimson robes. Time is running out, but there aren’t many trustworthy persons around who will help. How can Oriana complete her mission when there are dark forces preventing this from happening?

Oriana Oakleigh and the Dragon Danes by W.R. Cooper took me into the magical world of fa’ries, goblins and other mystical forms. The story was not easy to follow at first, but I caught on while reading. The author’s footnotes also helped me. The plot was unusual, as it saw the protagonist constantly seeking answers to numerous puzzling questions she had while traveling on her quest. There’s more dialogue than drama, but the author wrote well in an unforced manner, had great imagination and produced a nice book. It was an interesting novel with likewise characters.
