Two years ago, a bomb was set off in Congressman Mickey Poore’s election campaign killing many innocent people including FBI Agent Rick Clark’s daughter Sabrina. A terrorist group called EMMA orchestrated the bombing. Now, two years later, another group, called ARC appears to be following in the footsteps of EMMA. Reflecting EMMA’s political beliefs, ARC is set out to clean the world of filth by killing politicians, drug dealers, and businessmen who they believe are guilty of committing crimes against humanity. ARC contracts lowlifes to do the dirty work for them, while Agent Clarke with the help of Marty Robin, a part time agent with a photographic memory, searches for ARC’s leader.

Well done, Mr. Michael Segedy, well done. Our Darker Angel is a thrilling, suspenseful, dark, heart pounding, page turning, terrifying, exciting, and shocking novel. At first, I thought the setting is in the future, because as naive as I sound, I didn't know what those TOR, Darknet, and other terms mean. But when I did some research, those things truly do exist and upon reading further into the book, events are actually happening in present day. The cover looks as if it might be about aliens and war of the worlds but the only war going on in this book is in this world. This book is done flawlessly with the perfect amount of mystery and timing.

Our Darker Angel is a thriller written by Michael Segedy. The story revolves around FBI Agent Rick Clark's investigation into a series of murders for which an anarchist terrorist group named ARC has claimed responsibility. Terrorism is something that is quite personal with Clark, as his daughter, Sabrina, was a victim of a bombing attack set up by another terrorist group called EMMA some years before. Clark had been unhappy with his daughter's decision to leave school and hadn't been in contact with her prior to her death, which added to the guilt and anguish he now feels. These new assassinations seem similar to the EMMA group's work as they also target people who are corrupt and powerful. Clark's new love interest, Marty Robin, is a psychologist who works for the FBI as a consultant. Together, they're researching the backgrounds of the victims and trying to figure out a common theme for the assassinations.

Michael Segedy's Our Darker Angel is an exciting psychological thriller. FBI Agent Rick Clark is an intriguingly flawed character whose balancing act between the personal and professional is interesting to watch. The plot is timely and filled with references to IRC chats, hacking into government sites, and even Edward Snowden gets a mention. The action is fast-paced and plausible. There's another story-line that runs parallel to Clark's investigation, that opens Our Darker Angel, wherein we meet Ali Cohen, a wealthy young woman, who's discussing her concerns about her friend Alan with her psychiatrist. Ali's childhood experiences in Jaffa and then Gaza City are fascinating to read and add an extra dimension to Segedy's thriller. I enjoyed Darker Angel and would like to see other thrillers featuring Rick Clark and Marty Robin.

Agent Clark has very little left in his life outside of his job. His daughter was killed by a fanatical terrorist group and his wife left him soon after. But he’s not quite done with his daughter’s friends yet or rather, they’re not done with him. There is something going on in the crazy, fanatical web of the internet and these two are involved in it somehow. When people start dying and a new terrorist group called ARC starts taking the credit, things start to get very interesting - especially when all the murders simply don’t seem to make any sense. There’s something hidden behind ARC’s agenda and Michael Segedy is very good at hiding exactly what that is. Our Darker Angel will definitely have you guessing until you get to the very last page.

We’ve all read or heard about books on terrorists before and the crazy ways that they make their voices heard but this was somewhat of a new twist on that idea. It was interesting the way that the characters are originally introduced and then you have to figure out how they are actually connected to each other. After all, there are a lot of different characters in this book who are all important and all very different as well. This isn’t one of those books you’re going to just pick up and understand. Things will seem confusing for a little while but in a good way. After all, who wants to know who the killer is right from the start? I certainly don’t.
