If you are looking for a collection of short stories that express various emotions but should be sipped upon as a fine wine, Our Particular Shadows (Shadow Stories Book 1) by Radhika Mukherjee can be the taste for your palate. In this collection there are seven stories that center around seven emotions. As you read Our Particular Shadows, you will experience raw, no-holds-barred emotions about life, loneliness, choices and depression. With headings of the short stories like longing, promise, magician, poison, so?, shot! and quiet, you know that you're in for something special. Radhika offers you a suggestion before you embark on this adventure through Our Particular Shadows - “Take a breather between reading one story and the next. You’ll pick up on the voice and voice-change better.”
When I began reading Our Particular Shadows, I took the author’s advice. I paused and digested the short stories as I read each one. The deep, intense emotions that came off the pages is how Radhika takes us on a journey in telling each story. In doing so I was able to not only read the shorts, but chose a favorite of the seven - longing - because when you feel alone or hurting, sometimes it's the little things that give us comfort and peace. Pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy Our Particular Shadows (Shadow Stories Book 1) by Radhika Mukherjee.
