Outsider by Kayti Nika Raet is the third book in the Outsider Chronicles. In this part of the story, Niko and her allies focus on bringing some positive change to the lives of the Grey-men and the people in the slums. Although stuck inside Cherai City and still hiding from the Council, Niko is now determined to see changes in the way the city authorities treat the Grey-men and reduce the level of unfairness between the cities and the slums. Using Ben's connections and knowledge of the city, and the help of the Gemini gang, Niko and her allies start plotting how best to control some power in the City so that the livelihoods of the slum dwellers can improve a little. What better way to do this than through controlling the main essential supply the City has. But gaining this control will not be an easy task and they will need all the allies they can get. Meanwhile, Niko has a personal crisis to sort out and must avoid a love triangle. Amidst all this plotting and scheming, a more dangerous enemy is planning the deadliest assault the City has ever seen

Once again, Kayti Nika Raet takes us on another thrilling journey through the Slither infested lands at an adrenaline-pumping pace. I especially loved how Niko's character, and others, evolved through the different stages of the series; always rising beyond her limits to meet the string of endless challenges life kept throwing at her. Trust Kayti to push the limits with her stories. As if the brutality of the monsters and the never ending struggle to survive that dominated Book 1 and 2 were not enough to keep the reader on edge, why not throw in some more tension with a love triangle in Book 3 to make things even more interesting. If you thought Books 1 and 2 were great, then Book 3 follows in that very trend as we continue with this engrossing story filled with many twists and nasty surprises. The Outsider Chronicles is truly the work of a gifted writer and I cannot wait to get my hands on Book 4.
