Kyle Brightman went through a bitter divorce and lost his waterfront condo and his cat. He was passed over for promotion at work, diagnosed with Bipolar II, and his drinking made everything worse for the already paranoid man. When he lost his self-control at a grocery store, he landed himself in the psychiatric ward. A job offer as an art director at a new resort in the Caribbean is his salvation to get out of the rut.

But is it really a good deal for Kyle? Who really wants an ad guy with mental issues to work for them on a tropical island? The resort on the beautiful Isle of St. Agrippina needs to be opened again and attract tourists. It would be “a true adventure in paradise” for lower-middle to middle income folks. What people don’t realize is that the resort is run by zombies – hungry zombies – and the tourists are food.

Author Larry Weiner gives hardcore zombie fans a story to be savored. Paradise Rot (The Island Trilogy, Book 1) is a zombie parody with a quirky perspective on life with the undead in the Caribbean. Characters include a talking, wheelchair bound dog, a female Rambo, a weird bartender in the jungle, and a Rastafarian seaplane pilot. Weiner deftly shows his unique sense of humor, and I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud during my reading. I love the eccentric ensemble of characters and Weiner’s style of writing. Simply hilarious, Paradise Rot is a fast paced and entertaining read.
