Pay for My Sin: The Revelation Diary by Iryna Combs is an inspiring story with dystopian elements. There is chaos everywhere as the world hastens to its end. Mary has only one thing in mind: to save her family from eternal damnation. But an encounter with another woman sees her fleeing for shelter in an ancient, abandoned church in the southern wilderness. Her destiny is greater than merely saving her family because she is an invaluable piece of an ancient prophecy involving the Gates of Hell and the fate of humanity. With agents of Hell hunting for her, can she stay alive long enough to fulfill her destiny and can she protect her friend?

Iryna Combs’ novel is an inspiring story that showcases powerful biblical themes and explores the conflict between good and evil. Maria is a Christian, a woman of great faith, but she is about to undergo the greatest test of her life. There is a lot to enjoy in this story. First up, the setting presents frightful images that are very well captured in the author’s powerful and descriptive prose. I enjoyed the fact that the protagonist runs to a wilderness and the decrepit setting is in itself very symbolic, both for the story and Christian readers. The conflict is monumental and it drives the plot in powerful ways. Pay for My Sin: The Revelation Diary is masterfully written and readers will enjoy the timely paragraph breaks, the tight writing, the extraordinary characters, and the exciting tone. I was pulled in from the beginning and stayed connected with the protagonist throughout the story.
