Pearlized is a pulsating murder-mystery thriller written by B.K. Sweeting. Haunted by the mysterious circumstances of his mother's disappearance in 2002, Oisin Murphy still reels from the aftereffects of the incident. Raised by his best friend Logan's family, Oisin grows up convinced that the Pearl Point Murderer still roams free, even though a man named William was identified and convicted as the infamous serial killer. Oisin's past comes back to haunt him once again when he receives a sinister message on the 13th of October. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Ella returns from sunny California after more than a decade. But after surviving a bank robbery, she is traumatized. As the two kindred souls start a burgeoning relationship, horrors from the past spring up once again that threaten everyone.

Filled with suspense, intrigue, and plenty of thrills, author B.K. Sweeting's gripping murder-mystery tale is set to entertain lovers of whodunnit mysteries. Containing an intricate and fast-moving plot filled with unexpected twists and turns, Pearlized keeps your eyes glued to the pages from start to finish. Sweeting uses a non-linear narrative that switches timelines and POVs to form an enthralling storyline that leaves no room for your attention to waver. The characters are well-realized and layered, which makes them thoroughly compelling to read. Their inner turmoil and conflicting motives make them easy to relate to, and you find yourself actively caring for their lives. There is a Hitchcockian feel to the narrative that any fan of murder mysteries or sleuth stories will find thoroughly entertaining. Highly recommended.

Pearlized by B.K. Sweeting is a thrilling tale of murder and mystery that will keep you hooked until the end. Oisín Murphy was just a child when he saw something that changed his life forever. Coming home from school and looking for his missing mother was traumatic enough, but finding blood out on the ice and then being submerged in the water because of thin ice made the day tragic for Oisín for more than one reason. Years later, the past still haunts him and makes him feel like something is missing. Oisín believes that the Pearl Point Murderer killed his mother, and that belief is further cemented as time passes. However, when the past comes back, knocking on his door and mocking him, Oisín knows he cannot stay away. He needs to revisit and revise the past by going back to where it all began and ending the mystery once and for all. However, he has no idea that not only is he in danger but also everyone he loves.

Smart writing, this is what it is. I took my time reading this fantastic novel because I wanted to savor every second of it. B.K. Sweeting carefully crafts each scene to make the imagery as powerful as possible without being too explicit. The descriptions transported me right next to Oisín and made me feel chills. B.K. Sweeting kept the narrative fast, engaging and immersive, which is everything you want in a thriller/ murder mystery novel. Oisín’s growth is fantastic. He takes time to come to terms with what has happened and then faces his life accordingly. The narrative is explicit, there is violence in the story, but it all fits the plot. I highly recommend Pearlized to anyone who loves thriller novels with incredible twists and turns that you will never guess.

Pearlized by B.K. Sweeting is a stunning thriller following Oisín Murphy’s story. Oisín was only a boy when he discovered a pearl in the unlikeliest of places. A gory pool with the number 12 drawn in blood beside it on the frozen bay. Suddenly Oisín is beneath the surface, drowning, an experience that would stay with him for life because it is the anniversary of when his mother disappeared. Oisín believes his mother was murdered by the Pearl Point Murderer but no one believes him. As the pandemic sweeps the world, Oisín has to face his past again but now the stakes are higher. Will Oisín learn the truth this time? His deadly mission takes him across the waters, drawing his nearest and dearest in as the past comes home to roost.

Pearlized by B.K. Sweeting is a unique take on the thriller genre. A captivating story, you will not put this down until you reach the end, an ending you truly won’t expect. The characters are exceptionally well-developed, likable people with their own quirks and flaws that make them seem all the more real. The plot is different and highly engaging, a real page-turner of a story that offers exciting action and mystery that will keep you reading all the way through. The author has a descriptive style of writing, a way of drawing you into the story and making you feel as though you are living every second of it. It isn’t recommended for young readers as it does contain violence and explicit language but for older readers, I highly recommend this book, especially if you want a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, guessing all the way.

Wow what a ride. Pearlized kept me interested all the way through and it was so hard to put it down. The characters became my friends (love them) and I felt like I was on this thrilling, mysterious roller coaster ride with them. The way B.K. described the scenery, the atmosphere, the food, the clothes etc... made me feel like I was there. The ending was shocking!!! I highly recommend this book and can't wait for her next one. I loved Pinot too ❤

Love this book!

Phenomenal and original psychological thriller. Pearlized is a solid slow-burn that didn't dissappoint. The amazing characters are stuck in my head now and I can't wait to see what happens to them in book 2. Well done.
