Very simple and easy to understand, Poems and Prose for How Life Goes would be a lovely book to introduce children to the world of poetry. Roanne H. Fitzgibbon writes with a sing-song quality all about the domestic duties that a child and their stay-at-home mommy would love. Each poem is short enough that you don't have to really strain to remember it, and everything is well-written and easy to understand.

With topics varying from September 11th, to the Andy Griffith Show, to Mom's Birthday, Poems and Prose for How Life Goes takes us on a journey into the life of nearly every average American who does everyday things. Though skewed a bit towards the older generation (I myself have never seen an episode of the Andy Griffith show), Roanne H. Fitzgibbon writes so that there is something that anyone of any age can relate to and enjoy. This book would be a particularly great bedtime story for young children. As I said, it has a sing-song quality that would probably encourage sleep, in addition to teaching young ones about poetry by using an easy and unassuming media.

I enjoyed the different rhyming patterns and writing style used throughout the book. It was a very short read, one that I got through quickly during my lunch break. You can easily relate to the pieces, because it seems as if you could have written them yourself. The fun and lyrical style will appeal to many people, both children and adults.
