"Power of Vitamin D" is an eye-opening book. I had no idea that Vitamin D was so important and a lack of it could have such consequences. Dr. Sarfraz Azidi shares his extensive research with readers. He tested his own patients for Vitamin D deficiency. According to his research, diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, asthma, Crohn’s disease, Cancer, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Kidney Failure, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Aches and Pains, Flu, Colds, Arthritis, Depression and MS can all be helped with Vitamin D. He also states that we actually need a lot more than the daily minimum requirement, since Vitamin D is a hormone the deficiency of it is a disease.

Vitamin D, aka Hormone D, comes to us from the sun. Most of us try to stay out of the sun to avoid skin cancer. There are a great many other factors that must be considered as this point, including where we live, our age, and our skin color. Food is not a major source of Vitamin D. We can take supplements but how do we know just how much we need? The Dr. suggests we have our levels tested and then refer to a chart in his book for the correct amount we need.

Dr. Azidi also discusses the fact that too much Vitamin D can be toxic.

I have Hashimoto Thyroid Disease, it is an auto-immune disease. I will be having my Dr. check my Vitamin D levels by using the 25(OH)D blood test. I’m also suggesting that my husband be tested.

This book is written in an easy to read and understand style. The book is well organized. The information is invaluable. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
