Pray Attention: 5 Sacred Meditations with Audio by Diane Scribner Clevenger provides the reader/listener with five soothing experiences that could be enjoyed over the course of several days. Pray Attention is easy to read and begins with an Intro that encourages users to share the meditation experience with others, perhaps even using the book as a way to introduce children to meditation. The five meditations have lovely names, each with its own soundtrack. The first is Your Regenerating Heart, which runs around 15 minutes including a break in the music and voice to allow time for deeper personal thought in silence before soft music returns the reader/listener to the guided meditation. Next up is Sweet Surrender, just over 11 minutes, with a focus on letting go of troubles. The third meditation is Feel the Touch, dealing with uncertainty, also running around 11 minutes. Following that is Allow God to be God in You, just over 10 minutes, focusing on release and gratitude. The final meditation is The Divine Plan Unfolding, just under 12 minutes. Following each meditation are several blank pages, perhaps for notes and thoughts. The book concludes with an “Outro” that encourages readers to continue their Pray Attention journey with Reverend Diane online and through events.

With busy lives that have been complicated recently by COVID-19, many people are seeking ways to bring comfort into their bodies and souls, and Diane's book and audio presentation, Pray Attention, is a welcome source for such comfort. While the book is small in size, its content can have a huge and positive impact on the lives of those who allow themselves the time to experience these guided meditations. Diane has a steady, calming voice and the background music in the audio is soothing. In the Pray Attention book itself, I found the short paragraphs on each page to be ideal for reading first, then listening to the audio meditation with my eyes closed, and fully participating in the concepts that are introduced. It pays to ensure that you’ve taken care of the technical preparations – downloading the audio component and reading the pdf or the physical book – so that you can fully immerse yourself in the meditation when you are ready. I would have liked to see a short description of the flavor of each meditation in case I wanted to seek out a particular kind of meditative experience, but I did benefit from all of them. I even learned a new word – “indwell” as a verb. If you find yourself having “one of those days,” you may just want to sit back and read/listen to Diane's uplifting voice urging us to Pray Attention.
