The story of the prodigal son is familiar to most of us. The Book of Luke is not specific about how long the son was away. The important thing is he returned to his waiting father; he found redemption.
For those of us who have prodigal children, Prayers for Prodigals by James Banks, is an excellent source for prayers to pray when we run out of words. It gives us a boost to keep going, knowing we are praying scriptural prayers for our children, and we know the Word does not return void! I found these prayers to be inspiring and encouraging. There is a prayer for every day (up to 90 days), and references are found throughout the book; prayers for the salvation of your children, for the children who are into drugs, etc. Each week for 13 weeks, there are introductions to the chapters, and Banks gives personal stories to enhance his explanations. The prayers can be used by parents, prayer groups, friends, or anyone who knows children who need to turn to the Lord.

Teenage and young adult years are tough...on them, as well as parents. Sometimes we need to be picked up and guided to keep praying. Banks gives us exactly that. He leads us into the Word of God and gives us words to speak on their behalf. I totally recommend this book to anyone who has children or knows anyone who does.
