Preacher Boy is the first installment of A Harrison Lane Mystery series by Gwyn GB. After finding the dead body of seven-year-old Darren Phillips in the woods, Detective Chief Inspector Sandra Parker seeks private psychologist Dr. Harrison Lane's services to solve the case. Determined to find the killer, Harrison delves deep into the investigation. However, he soon finds himself plagued by visions of his childhood memories the longer he studies the methodical rituals of the killer. When another young boy goes missing, DCI Parker must deal with overbearing media and close public scrutiny. As Detective Sergeant Jack Salter closes in on a suspect, the case becomes even more complicated. Harrison must now use every bit of cunning in his arsenal to locate the killer before another innocent child loses his life.

If you enjoy murder mysteries or sleuth stories, Preacher Boy is a must-read for you. Author Gwyn GB's A Harrison Lane Mystery series starts with a bang as you find yourself glued to the pages from start to finish. The narrative is tightly plotted, with unpredictable twists and turns that always keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well-developed, and their backstories add a lot of depth to their personalities. Harrison is a compelling protagonist, and the narrative revolves around his varying relationship dynamics with Sandra Parker, Jack Salter, and Tanya Jones. I was also intrigued by Jack's personality and felt his family troubles added complexity to his character. I will recommend Preacher Boy to anyone who is itching for a well-written murder mystery.
