Protector of Thristas: A Lisen of Solsta Novel by D. Hart St. Martin is a continuation of a trilogy. Although I am not familiar with the previous series, from the number of squeals I got from my friends when I told them I was reading this particular novel, I surmise that it was a big hit. So I had high expectations before starting this novel and I am pretty impressed. This novel is set fifteen years after the original series. Lisen and her friends are now married and have children. Lisen has a strong partner. He is everything she could wish for and their three children are everything she dreamt of and some. She is Empir Ariannas, which means she is ruler of the world. However, her past is back and she cannot forgive herself for those things. And in order to move forward, she needs to find redemption. But can she? Does she even want to?

This is actually a pretty amazing novel, to be honest. Fantasy, especially epic fantasy, tends to be less human and more fiction. This novel is not one of them. You will love Lisen (if you don’t already); she is a strong character, a cool mom, and a very good spouse. Her character development was really good. I think this novel is the perfect example of continuing a series after it has ended. This has drama, action, and a lot of emotion. The characters have human flaws, which makes the story that much better. This is a must-read and it actually made me want to read the previous novels in the series. It is seriously awesome.
