Everyone has a past, and most of us have things in our past that continue to cause us pain and hold us back even years later. God never intended for us to live our lives that way; and Biblical counselor and pastor Stephen Viars has put together a plan to not only move on from our past, but also to confront it and truly heal from it. He teaches us how to deal with any guilt we may be feeling and how to heal from failures and brokenness.

Putting Your Past in Its Place is a powerful book with a very strong Biblical foundation that will have quite an impact on the reader who truly desires to heal from a difficult past. Stephen talks a great deal about God wanting to comfort us, and he points us to scripture that shows us how to call on our Redeemer for comfort and healing. We must never run from our past or try to bury and pretend it is no big deal. That line of thinking holds us back and keeps us from living the peaceful life of freedom God intends for us.

I found this book to be very useful and very well written. The scripture is in-depth and extensive, which may be intimidating to a new Christian, but Stephen understands the importance of healing from the past and his strong desire to help others is evident throughout the pages of this book. I highly recommend this book for anyone who suffers from a painful past, no matter how minor it may seem. God wants the best for his children.
