Raether’s Enzyme by Sean Flynn is a brilliantly plotted novel that explores a conflict around the new eugenics in a compelling dystopian setting. Megan Bishop is a young woman who happens to carry inside her body the one thing that anyone will kill for — a substance called Raether’s Enzyme that has the power to prevent and cure cancer. When hackers get access to medical databases and release information about the potential donors on the web, Megan Bishop becomes a vulnerable target, and a dangerous and ruthless financial tycoon will stop at nothing to get to her. With bounty hunters at her heels, can she stay ahead of them and keep herself out of their reach?

Raether’s Enzyme is gritty, enthralling, and opens with a strong premise, with the protagonist receiving multiple requests to share her CIF-117. But the lengths to which the greedy will go in order to harvest the substance in her is disturbing and Sean Flynn uses it to create a plot that is as twisty as it is riveting. The characters are fleshed out, rock-solid and memorable, and readers will even love Megan's adorable puppy Heffalump. The themes are bold, including eugenics, euthanasia, and survival, and the author writes about controversial issues against the backdrop of a dystopian and dynamic society. Raether’s Enzyme is a compelling read infused with realism and humanity; a story with a protagonist that readers will adore. At the heart of the story is the question: Can Megan Bishop be of help to humanity without falling prey to the greed of the few?
