Author Biography

Subani Maheshwari is a physician in the Philadelphia area. She lives with her husband and two little girls. They love reading together and coming up with new stories and rhymes. Subani’s first children’s book, Rainbow, Rainbow In The Sky, is inspired by the wonder and excitement of a rainy day and a simple dinner time conversation about rainbows. When she is not working or writing, you can find her doing arts and crafts with her daughters. They made many rainbow paintings and completed experiments like “how to make a rainbow” while creating this book.

Rainbow, Rainbow In The Sky by Subani Maheshwari is a short and sweet story about how rainbows are formed, with a description of each of the colors within it. Each page has its own little adventure. It offers a perfect demonstration of science that can easily be understood by a preschooler and also includes an opportunity to practice counting! It has sweet rhymes for each color of the rainbow and adorable illustrations to match. It’s a great reading-level book for first-time readers and easily memorized for those not yet able to read, giving younger kids the perfect opportunity to follow along.

Reading books to my children is one of my favorite things to do with them. I’m always excited to discover a story that is clever, entertaining, and educational. Rainbow, Rainbow In The Sky matches that description exactly. A great book as well, for when you want to start up a conversation with your kids. My son tends to take every opportunity to ask questions I never even considered myself and this story provides the perfect opportunity for him to do just that. It also has lovely illustrations that catch the readers’ eye and hold children's attention. Even my baby enjoys staring at the pages while listening to the sound of my voice. It’s very bright and colorful. Subani Maheshwari has done a great job at blending fun and learning into one enjoyable experience. I would love to see more topics in nature covered by this author and illustrator duo.
