Reclamation is the opening book in the Ceiba Pentandra Series by Sophie L. Osborne, a character-driven story with strong hints of military and mystery. The reader is introduced to Laurie-Marie Gallagher, a woman with very humble origins, strong-willed and determined to succeed. Through grit, the woman who had been raised in an orphanage beats the odds to build a life of her own. Justin Vladimir may want to be on his own, but the choice for the family's rich inheritance falls on him as his father, grandfather and great-grandfather decide that he must become the proprietor of the family's billion-dollar estate. What both Laurie and Justin don't know is that they are about to become victims of a darkness from a past they have never been part of, and when dark forces come demanding payment for unsettled deals, they may stand to lose everything. And is there a way out?

I enjoyed every bit of this narrative. The author does an impeccable job in crafting the dynamics in the Vladimir family and the drama built on the idea of making Justin the next CEO of Vlad-Corps is strong and hugely entertaining. The reader is pulled into a world where the craving for wealth and power dominates the consciousness of the characters and the lead ones may have finer values. But once foundations have been destroyed, it is the honest and loyal ones who suffer the most. Justin is about to bear the brunt of actions committed over a century ago by his family. This book will appeal to readers who enjoy family drama and intrigue. It is suspenseful, deftly plotted and skillfully written. I enjoyed the fact that the dialogues are measured and that the author focuses on building compelling scenes and crafting a narrative that keeps readers engaged. Reclamation is a great achievement and a singular opening for a series, one of those books you read and absolutely want to read the next one.

Reclamation by Sophie L Osborne is the first three books of the Ceiba Pentandra Series. Laurie-Marie Gallagher defies everything to avoid being the stereotypical orphanage girl and she builds a great life for herself. Justin Vladimir just wants to be left to his own devices but, if he defies what his family expects of him, he faces being thrown out and disinherited. Two completely different people from completely different walks of life. What could they possibly have in common? More than they could ever know as they are about to find out. More than 100 years ago, a deal was struck but things didn’t work out as they should have. Now ancient demons are on the prowl, looking to reclaim payment, and nobody and nothing is safe. Lives are destroyed in the blink of an eye and it's down to Laurie and Justin to save the world or die trying.

Reclamation by Sophie L Osborne is a good book. Plenty of action, both in the real world and demonic terms, a straightforward story that had a few surprises in it. I found that, although the scene needed to be set, it took a while to really get into the story. Once it got going, it was easy to keep reading. The characters were developed very well, nothing left to the imagination although they were likable characters and easy to relate to, and the plot was steady, building up as it went along. Each of the three books moved seamlessly from one to the next and having them all together made it much easier to keep up with the story. There were no real dead spots in the story and Osborne kept the dialog between characters smooth and natural to the extent that you could almost feel yourself in the story with them. I have to say that, once my attention was caught, it was held and I enjoyed the story very much.

Reclamation is a compelling first book in the Ceiba Pentandra Series by Sophie L Osborne, a narrative that follows two strong characters and a destiny forged by forces beyond their control. Laurie-Marie Gallagher has vehemently refused to be what people want her to be — a woman raised in the orphanage and destined for nothing. So, she has created a strong personality and worked hard to achieve success. But all her achievements are about to be brought to naught, and can she do anything about it? While he wanted to lead his life his own way, Justin Vladimir learns that he is the heir to the family billion-dollar estate. But a deal made more than a century ago and that wasn’t honored is about to take away everything and the forces that are after him are ruthless.

There are hints of the supernatural in Reclamation and themes that are deftly developed — family secrets, love, success, and loyalty. Sophie L Osborne’s characters are real and they fit into a world that is so beautifully imagined and that reflects the values they stand for. Justin is the son of a typical rich Russian family and when the reader meets him, they can sense his restlessness. His inner world is in tatters, even if he maintains a calm demeanor. The internal conflict is developed into the evolution and growth of the characters, making them interesting and memorable. The plot has surprises that readers won’t see coming and I enjoyed how the author uses the different points of view and plot lines to create suspense that keeps readers engaged from page to page. I enjoyed the excellent prose, the exciting dialogues and the memorable characters.

Reclamation is a work of suspenseful paranormal romance written by author Sophie L Osborne, and forms book one of the Ceiba Pentandra Series. In this first instalment of a mysterious and thrilling new concept, we are introduced to polar opposites Laurie and Justin. As Laurie goes about her business becoming a successful young adult despite her broken upbringing, Justin has the world at his feet, but feels the pressure of his family name is crucial to his success. What brings them together is a mysterious force seeking revenge for a deal that Laurie and Justin weren’t even alive to see, but the threat of destruction shows them they have more in common than they first thought.

Reclamation is a clean new adult romance with plenty of paranormal concepts and suspense to hold up the plot. Author Sophie L Osborne knows how to craft character, and it is ever present in the relatable and powerful Laurie, a young woman coming from nothing who shows both vulnerability and great strength. Justin is a young man with lessons to learn, and he is compassionately written and well described as a compelling male lead. Osborne’s prose flows well for the target audience, explaining some very interesting paranormal concepts but not getting too bogged down by details. I found the dialogue fresh and entertaining, and the expansion of the plot produced a satisfying conclusion, the one that I was hoping for! Overall, Reclamation is a highly recommended start to what promises to be an excellent new paranormal series.
