Author Biography

I have heard it said that we are products of our environment. If that is the case, I consider myself in my own microclimate. Choices between right and wrong must be made, especially at one’s crossroads. If it doesn’t feel right, it is probably wrong. I try to think outside the box, even though I have felt like I have been trapped inside one. I live for life and the excitement it brings each day. I try to not let the events of the past cloud my experiences, even though there is still some residual effect. Learning and growing from my experiences is my ultimate goal, as well as to share those experiences with others. I am elated to share this story with you. I hope it will bring a sense of assurance that no matter what your situation brings, answers can be found if you look for them.

Red Dot Shot: Phantom of the Wilderness by Kramer Elkman is a revealing memoir about a difficult father and son relationship. Six-year-old Kramer's earliest memory is that of a little boy seemingly unable to do anything that pleases his father. One of his earliest memories is going fishing and hunting with his father where he is made to feel inadequate. He grows up acutely aware that his distant father expects more from him. Nearing his nineteenth birthday, the relationship somewhat improves. That is until his Dad took him on a bow hunting trip in the wilderness where his father's actions will scar him for life.

Red Dot Shot: Phantom of the Wilderness is an emotionally wrenching read. The story unfolds through the eyes of a little boy desperately hungry for a father's love. Author Kramer Elkman's keen observation and descriptive style effectively brings his readers with him on those hunting trips to the wilderness, not only in the physical sense of the word but also emotionally. And this is what makes this novel highly interesting. And as we go through the complex father and son relationship, we cannot help but examine our own relationships with our father or mother, for that matter. In this way, the story is easily relatable to the general reader. Red Dot Shot is a compelling story and it reveals the significance of growing up surrounded by love and affection, instead of disapproval and apathy. Also a coming of age story, this memoir is a must-read for everyone!
