The Red Witch lays waste to the kingdoms using her devotees and their animal cohorts. Gunderson has fallen and with the huntsmen in disarray, there seems to be no one that can stand against her. Esther is glad to have escaped Adam's cells but feels regret at leaving her companion Oisin behind. As the Realm Walker, she must find a way to bring the proud queens of the kingdom of Apples and the Kingdom of Beauties together to make a final stand against the Red Witch and her allies or face total annihilation. Will she succeed or have years of infighting and rivalries created a divide too deep to be bridged? Only time will tell in T.R. Slauf's Redemption.

Redemption is the second book in the Legends Of Lightning series. T.R. Slauf brings the characters together in an interesting manner. The interaction between them is deep and filled with hidden meanings. It takes an astute reader to decipher some of the characters' true motivations. The intensity of the novel is aided by the extremely graphic nature of Slauf's storytelling. It is not common to find fantasy battles described with such a high degree of detail. The primary character, Esther, has so many flaws she struggles with that it became impossible not to see a bit of myself in her. This masterstroke by the author in humanizing her stands out for me and gives the book a certain degree of authenticity. This novel has a little bit of everything in it, from romance to action, plots, and counterplots. These combine nicely to create the magical atmosphere that is Slauf's masterpiece. Redemption is a top-drawer novel in a class of its own.
