Reigning The Future by Dennis Wang gives a fresh viewpoint about US-China relations, navigating the changing world, and tackling some of the complex international puzzles. China is emerging as an international leader in technology along with the United States but there is conflict with China, especially in areas of advanced technology and finance. The book gives many new insights about the technological rivalry between the United States and China and it is not just limited to AI, 5G, or big data but fields of technology not yet envisioned.
The book is divided into two parts; the first part gives readers information about the historical relationship between China and the USA. The second part analyzes China's technology industry and game-changing innovations of the 21st century. The author speaks about the topic extensively and in depth and readers are made aware of China's increasing prominence. They will understand that the conflicts between China and the USA are largely invisible due to the taboo of warfare and nuclear deterrence but have been spiraling ever since Donald Trump became the President of the United States. Both countries seem to have fallen into the so-called 'Thucydides Trap' and the Trump administration has started imposing a series of restrictions on China. Readers should know that war today is not fought using weapons. Instead, war today consists of many new dimensions.
Reigning The Future by Dennis Wang will appeal to readers who are interested in learning about the US-China relationship, China's strong point that is slowly making it rise to prominence and strength, and its diversity in data inputs. As the author speaks about China's leadership in digital transformation, he also explores the relationship between this technological development and censorship in China and the race for 5G adoption.
